OLYMPIC EDUCATION: THE MODERN OLYMPIC MOVEMENT AND SYMBOLISM AS AN INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL PHENOMENON

Abstract

The article considers Olympic education as an important component of the formation of moral and physical values of youth. The modern Olympic movement is analyzed, as well as its importance in the development of international cooperation and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Special attention is paid to the symbolism of the Olympic Games as a reflection of the ideals of peace, unity and equality. The Olympic movement is seen as a social phenomenon that influences global processes, uniting nations and promoting cultural exchange.Olympic movement, national Olympic academies carry out a lot of work in order to organize Olympic education according to recommendation of the International Olympic academy. Implementation of the basic principles and regularities of functioning of the Olympic movement is set out in the Olympic Charter and is conducted by the National Olympic Committees. National and Regional Olympic Academies in Ukraine are included in the system of institutions through which the solution of the main tasks of national Olympic committees are realized.The article presents all aspects of the Olympic symbolics used by the International Olympic Committee for promoting of the Olympic ideals throughout the world. These definitions are used in the process of Olympic education. Olympic education is dissemination of knowledge about the Olympic Games, the Olympic movement and Olympism, began to develop in the world in the middle of 1970-s. It fully meets the requirements of society and contributes significantly to the development of modern civilization.It is revealed that the modern Olympic movement and its symbolism are important tools for forming civic consciousness, developing cultural ties, and strengthening world peace.
